P.S: This page was intentionally left in english and it will stay that way, no matter how hard you try to change the website's language. This is so that some of you don't feel an uncontrollable urge to send me requests in chinese or german or some other dialect I will never comprehend.

Altered homepage (as requested by several members) and added 11 random photos instead of the 'boring' top voted and top visited, that we were all fed up of seeing every day :)

Special thanks to Sunshine107 for yet another very kind and generous donation!

I must say at this point, I know I've been neglecting LensFreak a bit. This is due to the amount of work I have right now, but you are not forgotten. I have some interesting plans for the near future of LensFreak. Soon I will migrate the whole website to a new server (faster and with more storage space) and I will mess around with it a bit to bring you a whole set of new features and even a new look and feel. Please be patient just a little while longer.

Thank you!

I'm just posting this to apologise for not being around lately. The main reason is that I'm working on a very new project that will blow your minds away. This will be like nothing you've ever seen before, and if you're smart, you'll have a chance to win 10,000 Euros.
The whole project will be available sometime next month. In the meantime, it's in a pre-launch phase, and you can already register and start earning credits that later can be converted into real money. If you're interested, register as soon as possible here: www.hobbitton.com.
Because this is still a pre-launch phase, there are really not active options available to the general public yet. They will only be available after official launch, and after the project has been moved to a dedicated server. For now, the server is quite slow and has a few bugs... Everyone who registers during the pre-launch stage will receive an email notification when the full final version becomes available.

Thanks for your patience.

Okay, I know I haven't been doing many updates lately, because I've been very busy, but I'm preparing something special for all you LensFreakers out there!
Soon you'll be able to add music to your photos. This feature is still in testing mode, so it's not available yet, but you can see some working examples in my gallery (here, here, here, here, here and here and in a few more but you'll have to look for them!).
Please allow a few seconds for the songs to load.

Widget is finished. (read article just bellow this one to find out more).
You can configure your widget in your Profile section, by clicking on the button that reads 'LensFreak Widget'.

It will take a few seconds to be created and then you'll see a page with an example of what your widget will look like, and a few lines of code that you'll need to copy and insert into your webpage or blog. (Please note that it's best to use the widget after you have at least 5 photos online)

Enjoy :)

I've created a LensFreak Widget.

It's still in a Beta mode for testing, but soon you'll be able to copy 2 or 3 simple lines of code that will allow you to display your lensfreak photos on other sites or blogs you may have.
It will show all your online photos and even change the background according to the color you've selected in LensFreak.
The arrows at the bottom jump 5 photos forward or backwards, click on the small icons to see a larger photo, and click on the larger photo to be taken to the respective page in LensFreak.
Click on the LensFreak logo, and you'll be taken to the homepage.
Your name will appear below each photo, and link to your LensFreak profile section (that part isn't working yet)
As I've mentioned before, it's still in a Beta stage, so there might be some bugs.

Added 'Thoughts' button to main menu. This is a new Blog-like section where you can write artilces or post videos of photography-related material.

UPDATED on 9th March 2008:
Added comments to each article. Now you can comment and let the author know if the article was useful to you or not.

LensFreak member Ania has just won a free upgraded account for uploading photo number 2000!

Upgraded accounts allow members to post 5 photos per day and perform 5 workshops. They also have access to their very own Personal Web Portfolio.

You're probably not going to like this one...
I did a scan of the database today and discovered that there are exactly 99 members who upload more than they comment.
LensFreak is about SHARING! You MUST participate and give your opinion about other member's photos.
To enforce this idea (it's only fair) I've added a rule:
If you have more online photos than given comments, you won't be able to upload.
You'll see a message telling you exactly how many comments you need to write before you can add more photos to the site.
Also keep in mind that silly comments like 'good photo' or 'nice one' don't help anyone! We need proper feedback so we can all learn and improve our skills. If you have nothing to say, or simply are not interested in helping and learning, maybe this website isn't for you. In that case I suggest you try a more futile website, like www.olhares.com.
Sorry boys and girls, life ain't easy!

Updated homepage. Now you will see the 3 random photos change automatically every 15 seconds (providing you have an updated browser that supports this function - Firefox is recommended, you can get it here). Why 15 seconds? because that gives you about 5 seconds to look at each photo and decide if you ant to click on it to see the larger version.
Remember: Internet Explorer sucks and won't do this properly!
(also keep in mind that these are random photos, so it's possible that some will be repeated from time to time)

Added a list of online members at the bottom of the homepage. This only checks members who are viewing the homepage.

Added date and time to chat system. Please note that the time displayed is the server's time and may not be consistent with your own time and date. I decided to use the server's time to keep things on an even keel. We have member's from 36 different countries and everyone has a different time zone. Because this chat system is just an extra, and has nothing to do with the website's objective, I decided to not convert dates and time for each country, that would mean a lot of unnecessary scripting and database calls that would possibly contaminate the whole website's overall performance.
Instead, I simply added current server's date and time at the top of the chat window, just so you know 'when' you are.
What can I say? I use a macintosh: Think Simple!

Changed the way logins happen. You won't actually see any difference, but the system now uses session variables and cookies. This means that a cookie is set everytime you login, and is stored until you press the logout button. So if you just close your browser, the next time you open it, you will be automatically logged in (assuming you have cookies enabled).
This was done for specific reasons, to try and minimize the problemas some people have been having when logging in. These errors are out of my control, they are server-side errors and are the responsability of the server owners (somewhere in the USA). Hopefully they will all be solved soon. Thanks for your patience.

Added a chat room for y'all to spend your working hours discussing photography instead of actually doing some work!
There are still a lot of bugs to be fixed, and for now it will only work with Firefox (will try to make Internet Explorer work someday, but for now, be smart and get a real browser! - there's a link at the footer of this page where you can download Firefox)
Later I will include a list of online members, colors, maybe smileys, but for now, it stays simple.
Chat room is located here >>
when all bugs are fixed, I will send out an email and add an access button on the homepage.
System is programmed in AJAx, so you also need to have javascript enabled.
Enjoy!

Changed the photo classification to clarify some confusion that was going on. Many people were feeling offendid for getting only 1 point in some comments. Points work as follows:
0 Points = Neutral
1 Point = Good
2 Points = Very Good
3 Points = Excellent
So, as you can see, there are no 'bad' points, they are all neutral or positive.
